A changing climate affects us all, but the ends of the Earth have experienced a more dramatic change than anywhere else on Earth.

That's why we are proud to incorporate a climate offset program on each of our expeditions. What does this mean? Every time we drive or fly in an airplane we emit carbon into the atmosphere. This carbon is one of the major factors in global climate change. By reducing the amount of carbon we produce we can minimize global warming. Similarly, increasing the amount of renewable energy resources we use we can reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere, as can planting trees.

As a part of our carbon offest program PolarExplorers will calculate the amount of carbon that is being produced as a result of an expedition. We will then plant a corresponding number of trees to absorb the exact same amount of carbon OR we will invest in renewable energy resources to "counter" the amount of carbon used on the expedition.

This is called carbon offsetting. PolarExplorers uses Sustainable Travel International to help us calculate the carbon and invest in adequate offsets.
