The team has made it to the Polar Plateau! Temperatures have been dropping requiring the guys to more carefully manage their hands and faces. They are still covering plenty of ground each day, including 12.25 nm yesterday despite 4 hours of brutal sastrugi taking up the first four hours of the day.
Today the team will pass Shackleton's farthest point South (S 88° 23') that he reached on January 9th, 1909. This is a huge accomplishment in itself and hopefully the spirit of Shackleton will accompany them for the remaining 100 miles.
