Getting ready to go

The team had a leisurely morning in Qaanaaq and a well-needed rest after many days of international travel. They spent time going through their food and making sure they have everything they'll need while dogsledding. They practiced setting up their tents and became familiar with all their gear. That included being outfitted with polar bear and seal skin trousers (called qarliik).

They met with their guides/mushers whose names are Gustav, Peter, Tobias and Kaaleeraq. They spent time getting to know one another and talking about the route.

A couple of walks in town and to the sea ice filled out the day, as did the home cooked meals and warm hospitality of their host Regine.

While they make their last preparations they are enjoying the warmth of their guesthouse before they head onto the ice!
