The team had another great day. They broke camp at 9am and finished their ski day at 6pm. During those 9 hours, they covered 11.5 miles—a really impressive distance to hit this early in the expedition!
It wasn’t easy though. Their trail is beset with deep snow drifts. Breaking trail is especially difficult.
Morning overcast skies turned into an afternoon scorcher. Towing heavy sleds through deep snow in relatively warm temperatures is tough, tough work. But the team is feeling strong and proud of their efforts, as they should!
Today they hit the major milestone of putting the labyrinthine icefall behind them. They’ve swapped their crampons for skis, and can expect higher mileage days, and a straighter course from here on out.
