Welcome to our Svalbard ski expedition blog! We will be providing daily updates on our group of 8 currently out on a 6-day dog sled supported ski expedition. Day 1 recap is just in.
Our team has just finished their first day on the trail in Bolterdalen, a valley just south of Longyearbyen. They reported rather unfavorable conditions with winds up to 30-40 mph and very low visibility. After 6 miles of progress, they set up camp and ended the day with clear skies and a warm dinner. Even after a day of adverse weather, their spirits are high and they are excited for the journey ahead of them.
