To The Coast At Last

The Ruff Riders have made it to the East Coast of Greenland, 31 days after being dropped off at the end of the road on the west coast. They have endured through an assortment of challenges, but their perseverance has paid off and brought them to their goal. From extreme weather, difficult snow conditions, and long travel days, this trip has been far from easy, and it would be an understatement to say that we are very proud of what they have accomplished.

Nansen wrote of his "descent" in Greenland, ""downward slope made travelling easier. Yet, the terrain was rugged and the weather remained hostile. Progress was slow: fresh snowfalls made dragging the sledges like pulling them through sand."

It seems like they travelled for about 14 hours today and have pitched camp on the waters edge, but still need to find a good place to be picked up by boat or helicopter. They are resting now after what must have been a tiring day, and will work on getting to a shower, bed and big meal tomorrow! We will plan to post a final update tomorrow when the Ruff Riders make it to town.
