The day began with a snow cat transfer out of Longyearbyen, past the frequently traveled areas of Adventdalen to the terminal moraine where the team began in expedition in earnest. Conditions were clear, breezy, and COLD! After setting up camp, everyone gathered in the large, group tent to have dinner together and plan for the day tomorrow. They will have a polar bear watch tonight, each shift lasting 90 minutes, so only half of the team will need to take a shift each night, leaving the other half to a full night's sleep.
