The Shackleton Crossing is Nearly Complete, but Not Without Adversity!

The Shackleton Crossing team is in position to complete the 3-night journey and re-board the ship tomorrow morning! A momentous accomplishment, especially after today's challenging conditions.

Annie reports that it was "an extremely wet day".

"Everyone and everything wet. Our sleds were like bathtubs. But we kept moving. Breaks were short and sparse because we were too wet and cold to stop."

Days like today challenge you to the utmost. They can be absolutely draining both physically and emotionally. But they can also be SO rewarding -- though that feeling usually comes after you're warm and dry!

I'm sure everyone is very much looking forward to a hot shower, fluffy towels, and a dinner that doesn't come out of a freeze dried meal bag :)

Tonight everyone will be doing their best to dry out. You can be sure that the laundry lines inside the tents will be full, and the stoves will be blazing. It's actually quite remarkable how quickly gear can dry inside a warm tent.

Well done, team! It's not over yet, but the finish line is just about in sight.
