Back in Longyearbyen

After a good day of skiing the team is back in Longyearbyen. They skied through Bolterdalen from last night's campsite which is a broad valley with mountains on either side. Along the way they passed dogsled tracks and, towards the end, a couple of dogsled kennels. Finally they skied to the road and had a transfer back to town.

Ah, the comforts of being back in town. It is a great feeling to take a hot shower and have a good meal prepared for you. No need to melt snow for water and no need to blow up your sleeping pad. No bear watch either :) At the same time it is bitter sweet. The beauty of the land and the rewards of working hard for every pleasure are no longer a part of every day. But they will be remembered and treasured always.

We are really proud of our team for the hard work they put into the expedition and the support they gave to one another along the way. It was an awesome expedition.

Thanks for following along! Check back in a few weeks for our next expedition, the Greenland Icecap Crossing.
