Skiing up Adventdalen

Another good day of skiing, though at times it was into a head wind. Everyone did a good job and everyone is getting used to the rhythm and the systems of sled hauling.
The team has made their way to the base of Dronbreen Glacier which they hope to ascend tomorrow. Along the way they saw reindeer and a few rock ptarmigan, which are the only terrestrial bird that live in Svalbard throughout the year.
The weather was warmer today but still cold enough to not get hot while skiing. We always prefer colder temperatures because they bring more stable weather. When it gets warm you run the risk of having wet snow, or worse, cold sleet.
But today it was all good, just some occasional headwinds, which help to build character 🤣
The team is all set up at camp enjoying hearty meals and good company.
Check back again soon for another update from the ice!
