Happy Birthday Chris!
Happy Birthday Chris!

Chris reports continued stable weather and travel conditions that are occasionally soft. AC/DC completed another 15-mile day and is now descending several hundred feet in elevation per day.

The pleasant weather and light wind conditions, along with clear skies, allow the team to enjoy the vast expanse of the ice sheet. They had some visitors yesterday—a flock of geese encouraged the team by honking noisily as they flew overhead. They reported nearly 20 of them in a classic V formation. Birds are not uncommon on the ice sheet. Some species, such as the Greenland White-fronted Goose, make the perilous journey from the UK all the way to their summer breeding grounds in western Greenland. These majestic species number only 15,000 globally and are declining due to poor breeding success linked to habitat loss.

Today is also a special day for Chris as he celebrates a birthday on the icecap. Happy Birthday, and may all your wishes come true. We will be sure to share what revelry ensued in tomorrow's dispatch.
