Nearly Striking Distance

The team made the most of some exceptional weather conditions today. They skied to within 22 nautical miles of the South Pole. A remarkable achievement in itself. They hope to make camp tomorrow in a position that will allow them to reach the Pole the following day.

Guide Taylor Sweitzer reported that they enjoyed just about the best weather you can expect on Antarctica. Sunny skies with almost no wind at all. Days like today don't happen often, and the team is super fortunate to have gotten to experience it.

Taylor also reported that everyone has settled into very, very warm tents, believe it or not. The intense sunlight and absence of wind can really crank up the heat, even inside fabric walled tents.

As always, thanks for following along, and be sure to check back tomorrow for the next dispatch from the Antarctic Plateau.
